EarthLove Soap Story
The Scent of the Himalayas,
in a Bar of Soap.
For many years, I have walked from village to village across the Himalayas, seeking wild spices and natural rock salt growing in the highlands.
Wherever I went, I was surrounded by the rugged yet beautiful landscape of the Himalayas.
Crossing a mountain pass and walking along the trails beyond, I would sometimes find wildflowers blooming at my feet and across the slopes, like a natural flower garden.
In spring, the mountains come alive with flowers.
In summer and autumn, different plants and scents reveal themselves.
And then there is the scent carried on the mountain breeze—difficult to put into words, yet impossible to forget.
That scent became the starting point of EarthLove Soap.

And Then, a Chance Encounter.
As I continued my journeys through the Himalayas, I came across Wild Earth in Nepal.
There, they were making oils from Himalayan plants and flowers, and using their natural aromas to create handmade soaps.
The scent I had experienced in the Himalayas
was there—in the form of soap.
When I discovered this, I immediately told them that I wanted EarthLove to work together with them.
And so, the partnership between Wild Earth and EarthLove began.
Wild Earth & Founder Carrol Dunham ~ The Story of Wild Earth and Its Founder, Carrol ~ Wild Earth, the creator of the Kali Gandaki EarthLove Felted Organic Soap, was founded in 1997 by Carrol Dunham. An American anthropologist and long-time researcher of herbs, Carrol is also known for her work studying botanical ingredients with the founder of the globally recognized British cosmetics brand, The Body Shop. While studying the lives of high-altitude Himalayan communities as a member of National Geographic expeditions, she became deeply fascinated by the wild alpine plants used in Tibetan medicine and traditional Ayurveda. Her commitment to Nepal and the Himalayas has extended far beyond her research. Among other efforts, she adopted four children from the Himalayas and has continued to support communities in Nepal. From Plants to You — “FAIR TRADE” From the herbs gathered in the Himalayas to the people who choose the finished soap, the aim is to create a fair and sustainable connection. In the high Himalayan regions, almost every household once depended on men working as guides for overseas trekking and mountaineering expeditions. Carrol wanted to create opportunities for women to become economically independent, while building a sustainable business that could make use of the natural resources of the Himalayas. Working together with villagers, she eventually established a sustainable system for hand-picking 78 species of wild Himalayan herbs each year. This led to the creation of what became Nepal’s first environmentally conscious organic soap. This is where the story of Wild Earth—and EarthLove Soap—began.

KALI GANDAKI
A Soap Born from the Land and Waters of the Himalayas
Kali Gandaki is a sacred river fed by the melting snows of the Himalayas.
As the river rushes through the mountains,
its stones tumble and roll over countless years,
their edges gradually worn smooth into rounded forms.
Inspired by these smooth river stones,
KALI GANDAKI Felted Soap was born.
Each bar is wrapped in natural wool felt
made from Himalayan goat wool.
The land, water, plants, and human hands of the Himalayas—their gifts are brought together in a single bar of soap.
Even After the Soap Is Gone, the Felt Remains.
The felt is more than just a plastic-free alternative for wrapping the soap.
Even after the soap has been used up,
the felt remains. Simply place a new bar of soap inside
and use it again and again.
Caring for one thing and continuing to use it for as long as possible.
That, too, is one of the ways EarthLove believes in living in harmony with nature.
How to Use EarthLove Felted Organic Soap Keep the soap inside the felt and soak it in lukewarm water. Gently work it into a rich, fine lather. The fine, gentle foam can be used to wash your face and entire body with just one bar. You can also use the felt-covered soap directly on your body like a sponge. With full-body use, one bar lasts approximately one month. Even after the soap is finished, the felt remains. Simply place a new bar inside and reuse it again and again. Perfect for camping and outdoor adventures, too. Made with 100% natural ingredients, it is gentle on the environment and can be used by the sea or in rivers without harming the natural environment or aquatic life.
